In 2014, I discovered my 2x great grandfather, George William Reed, was the presiding judge over one of Arkansas’ most notorious trials.  On a November night in 1912, the mutilated body of Ella Barham was found creekside in Boone County. Odus Davidson stood trial and was soon executed for her rape and murder.  This session demonstrates how family historians must do some unexpected and off-the-beaten-track detective work when researching criminal events.
